St.Kitts’ People’s Action Movement PAM Set for 50th Anniversary Convention
The St.Kitts-Nevis People’s Action Movement PAM have finalized the date and venue for their 50th Annual Convention. Party Chairman Valentine Lindsay has indicated that he and his party are keenly looking forward to the staging of the event which will be the first after the recent General Elections success as a partner of the Team UNITY Alliance which comfortably won with 7 of the 11 seats up for grabs .
The Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Shawn K. Richards led Party won 4 of the 11 Parliamentary Seats. The most they’ve won since they demitted office some 20 years ago. PAM along with two other parties the Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris led People’s Labour Party PLP and the Nevis Premier Vance Amory led Concerned Citizens Citizens Movement CCM make up the ruling Team UNITY Administration which is led by the PLP Leader Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris .
Lindsay stated that the Party’s convention will be held on April 26th within weeks after the party’s caucus which will on Sunday, April 15th . The caucus is the forum at which delegates of the party will decide on the executive that will guide the work of the movement for the next year.
Both events will be held at PAM Headquarters the historic home of the 50 year old party.
The featured speaker for the historic event has not yet been decided but it was indicated by Lindsay that a number of possibilities were being considered including sitting and past Prime Minister as well as prominent regional politicians and personalities.
The Convention over has featured speakers like Jamaican Opposition Leader Andrew Holness and Nevisian Deputy Premier Hon Mark Brantley in recent years as well as former St.Lucia and Dominica Leaders the Late John Compton and Dame Eugenia Charles during the Party’s rule in the 80’s .
According to inside sources of the ruling Team UNITY the alliance is expected to hold a grand team UNITY convention later this year which will include all three alliance partners the PLP, PAM AND CCM.
