| Friday, 22nd June 2018 — The 2018-2019 Installation and Candlelight ceremony of the BPW Club of St Kitts was held at the Ocean Terrace Inn on the evening of Wednesday, June 20th 2018. The ceremony was performed to formerly confirm the new team of elected members to serve as the incoming Board of Directors for the BPW Club of St. Kitts (2018-2019). The beautifully executed ceremony was conducted in the presence of specially invited guests, founding and present club members, family and friends of BPW.
In her acceptance speech, newly installed president Cheryleann Pemberton thanked the membership for the vote of confidence in her potential for leadership, she encouraged members to “build each other up and assured members that “we can do great things together!” She also encouraged members and her Executive team to aim to emulate the words of BPW’s founder, Dr. Lena Madesin Phillips who stated “Each woman, as a citizen, must bring to the national policy of her own country, the contribution of forward-looking and constructive thought followed by determined action. Each woman must dedicate herself to protect and promote the interests of all other women in business and the professions.”
The Installation Ceremony was led by fellow member and past president of the St. Kitts Chapter in her current role as the Regional Coordinator for North America and the Caribbean 2017-2020, Dawne Williams, a position held for the first time by a Kittitian. In her address she reiterated the roles and responsibilities of each elected member and offered words of inspiration and wisdom to help guide the thoughts and actions of the newly elected team.
At the ceremony, two BPW members were recognized for their Helpfulness and Resourcefulness and were each presented with a plaque as a show of appreciation for their contribution of their personal time and talent to the club’s various activities and initiatives. These members were Dr. Christine Walwyn also a past president of the club and Mrs. Elizabeth Armony, a former executive member for the club. Also recognized was Mr. Valentine Liburd, entrepreneur and proprietor of Vallies Tent Rentals for his sterling customer service and partnership in the many fund raising initiatives of the club.
