PANAMA: Sounds of Caribbean Music Legend Ellie Matt Greets St.Kitts-Nevis Delegation at Summit of the Americas in Panama
The St.Kitts-Nevis Contingent for the 7th Summit of the Americas arrived in Panama City, Panama on Thursday evening. The Prime Minister Dr. Hon Timothy Harris led delegation arrived from Jamaica where they spent a hectic 24 hours meeting with other Caricom Heads and Officials as well as US President Barack Obama in the US-Caricom Summit.
The delegation was greeted in Panama by Panamanian Officials as well as other diplomats from around the region and Latin America. A pleasant surprise that accompanied the introduction of the St.Kitts-Nevis contingent was a Panamanian ballad-styled rendition of the King Ellie Matt Classic “Viva St.Kitts”.
The Unofficial St.Kitts Anthem was rendered by the talented Panamanian pianist much to the delight of all present including of course Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris and his delegation. Dr. Harris was visibly pleased at hearing the familiar and patriotic piece. No doubt an unexpected but welcomed surprise at the Summit.
This unofficial national anthem of St. Kitts –“I love St. Kitts…Viva!” has been sung, danced and choreographed it has lifted the spirits of all Kittitians at home and abroad, and so it did for the SKN Delegation and other Caribbean and Latin American delegates in Panama City, Panama
