Nevisian Businessman Franklin Brand nominated Speaker of the St.Kitts-Nevis National Assembly.
Well known Nevisian Entrepeneur Franklin Brand has been nominated as Speaker of the National Assembly for the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. This announcement was re-confirmed on Tuesday at a Special Press Conference convened by Prime Minister, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.
The popular civic and business leader Mr. Brand is co-owner and managing director of Island Bakeries Ltd on St.Kitts and former manager of Nevis Bakery Ltd. in Charlestown, Nevis.
Before entering the private sector he served as Chief Statistician for the Nevis island Administration (NIA). He also served as Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Trade, Industry, Development and Planning for the NIA.
Mr. Brand has been involved in many community and civic activities and organizations. He was a member of both the Rotary Club of St. Kitts and St. Kitts and Nevis Social Security Board. Mr. Brand also served as President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce. He is also a former Director of the Foundation for National Development Enterprise Credit Union (FND-ECCU) Ltd.
The incoming Speaker of the National Assembly currently serves as President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Small Business Forum, a non-profit organization which he co-founded in September 2011.
He is married to Jacqueline Evelyn, and is the father of four children.
