St.Kitts-Nevis Police have confirmed that Trevien Liddie, one of the young men charged with the murder of 17-year-old Leanna Napoleon attempted suicide Monday night (June 19), while in a cell at the Basseterre Police Station.

18-year-old  Liddie, who was charged with murder late Monday, attempted to take his own life at about 11:40 that same night.

Upon discovery of this attempt, a Police Officer initiated a medical emergency. Liddie was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for medical observation, and later detained under watch for other observations. 

The officer was commended for his adherence to the prisoner control procedures and for responding quickly to the incident.
