MINISTER MARSHA LANDS IN TORONTO—OFF ISLAND AGAIN! WHILE CENTRAL BASSETERRE DROWNS IN GARBAGE, FILTH, AND BROKEN PROMISES
TORONTO, CANADA – While communities in Central Basseterre crumble under the weight of garbage, filth, and neglect, Minister of Tourism Hon. Marsha T. Henderson has once again jetted off—this time to Toronto, Canada, for another overseas engagement. Her latest trip marks yet another addition to the Drew Administration’s growing track record of constant overseas travel, even as local communities continue to cry out for help.
Residents of Central Basseterre are fed up. Abandoned houses, derelict properties, and unsanitary living conditions plague neighborhoods from Newtown to Irish Town to McKnight. Longstanding housing promises have fallen flat, as the government’s much-hyped 2,400-home project with East Coast Developers has yet to deliver a single house in Central Basseterre.
“Minister Marsha came to us with promises. Promises to fix housing, to clean up the community, to bring relief—but all we get are press releases and pictures from foreign trips,” one angry resident stated.
BROKEN HOMES, BROKEN TRUST
The National Housing Corporation (NHC) remains dormant in the constituency. Despite grand announcements and ribbon-cutting ceremonies elsewhere, Central Basseterre—arguably one of the Federation’s most challenged constituencies—has seen zero progress.
Meanwhile, public healthcare continues to deteriorate, with outdated facilities, understaffed clinics, and long wait times becoming the norm. For constituents who once placed their faith in Minister Henderson’s leadership, frustration has boiled over into outrage.

MEANWHILE IN CANADA…
Minister Henderson, dressed for diplomacy, unveiled the “We Limin” Diaspora Program in collaboration with the Nevis Tourism Authority during the ANSA Reunion 2025. The program promises discounts, special hotel rates, and loyalty perks for overseas nationals—marketing it as a call to “come home.”
“The Diaspora Program is our invitation for nationals living abroad to reclaim their space in shaping our tourism future… The beaches await you, the breeze whispers your name, and your roots are ready to welcome you back.” — Minister Marsha T. Henderson
But back home, the real call is from fed-up constituents demanding action, not airfare.

MINISTERS IN THE AIR, COMMUNITIES ON THE EDGE
This latest trip reinforces what critics describe as a tone-deaf government more focused on foreign optics than fixing local issues. From the Prime Minister to his cabinet, the Drew Administration has become known more for its jet-setting than job-doing.
When will the travel stop, and the real work begin?
Have your say! Are you tired of leaders who prioritize foreign flights over frontline fixes? Should Minister Marsha stay grounded and start delivering?
