Kayamba Rejoins Indonesian Club as Assistant Coach/Trainer
After some time and months of speculation Indonessian Team Sriwijaya FC has finally managed to bring their legendary striker Keith “Kayamba” Gumbs back to the club this time as a physical trainer for the Indonesian Soccer Championship League 2016.
The St.Kitts-Nevis living legend arrived in Singapore on Sunday (01/05/2016) morning and immediately joined the Sriwijawa FC Team anad player on the field at Pusdipom Cimahi.
The Australian based Gumbs recently started a youth football academy in NSW Australia and had to quickly suspend the academy to take up his duties as Assistant Coach/Trainer for Sriwijaya.
“I departed from Sydney and transited in Kuala Lumpur. I then went on an hour delay flying to Jakarta and arrived last night. This morning I went straight to Bandung because I had to quickly join the team,” said Gumbs.
According to him, while in transit in Kuala Lumpur, he also took time to watch a match between Sriwijaya FC and Persib Bandung SFC via live streaming.
“I communicate with the coach during the match against Persib I saw SFC had enough good play and goals. It a great team effort,” Kayamba added.
The presence of Kayamba received positive feedback from all players of SFC.
“Kayamba has class training methods and when we were champions in the ISL 2011/2012 season already proven patterns developed many exercises that help players, physically maintained and we rarely had an injury,” said Firman Utina of Sriwijaya.
Team St.Kitts-Nevis Captain Atiba Harris praised and congratulated Kayamba on his recent appointement and declared that Kayamba was his role model and a player he always looke up to.
Harris said via socia media “(Kayamba) My role model ever since I was a little boy. I still look up to you even to this day. You had an amazing career as a player and I know you’ll do even better as a coach. Congrats on your new opportunity Kayamba!!! Make us proud. SKN Legend!”
