The Jamaica political fraternity and wider community are today in shock as word has circulated of the passing of Jamaica Labour Party Candidate Faye Reid-Jacobs.

In a release issued this morning by General Secrrtary of the  the ruling JLP Dr. Horace Change it  stated “ Jamaica Labour Party is this morning mourning the passing of MrsFaye Reid-Jacobs.This is totally unexpected. She was an important member of the Party; committed to the principles and vision of the Party. We are all in shock and mourning at this time. She represented the Party in Westmoreland Central in the past and remained close to the party after her resignation as Caretaker”.

Jacobs is believed to have killed herself last night. The police say Jacobs was found dead around 8.30 pm  in Long Mountain, St Andrew. It is being reported that a poisonous liquid was found in a container next to her which led to the suspicion that she  drank the poisonous substance.

Jacobs, who was a businesswoman was the Jamaica Labour Party’s Westmoreland Central candidate for the 2014 by-election.

She was beaten by the People’s National Party’s Dwayne Vaz.
