Former Deputy Prime Minister Shawn K Richards Lambasts PM Drew-Led Labour Administration for Poor Performance

In a scathing critique, former Deputy Prime Minister and PAM Leader, Hon. Shawn K Richards, has unleashed a barrage of criticism against the Prime Minister Drew-led Labour administration for what he perceives as a dismal performance in office.During an interview on Caribupdate with Calistra Farrier, Richards minced no words, stating, “The Terrance Drew administration, unfortunately, has been a disappointment for the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis. Too many persons are complaining about the lack of performance from the administration.”Richards pointed out various grievances, including the government’s failure to meet the needs of the people, the stagnation of the economy, and the lack of progress on promised initiatives such as the new housing revolution.”The government made a promise to the people that they were going to build 600 homes every year starting from last year to date. Only two of those 600 per year have been delivered to the people,” Richards lamented. He further criticized the administration for using outdated reports to justify salary increases for ministers, despite what he perceives as a lack of performance. Richards also highlighted the resurgence of crime under the current administration, contrasting it with the previous government’s efforts to control it.As the Labour administration approaches its second full year in office since winning the August 2022 elections, Richards’s outspoken condemnation underscores growing dissatisfaction and raises questions about the government’s ability to deliver on its promises and effectively govern the nation.
