A man charged with attempted armed robbery denied the allegation when he came before a High Court Judge today.
Perry Bay resident, Fitzroy “Chisel” Aska pleaded not guilty to Assault with Intent to Rob at his arraignment.
Police alleged Aska attacked a woman who was walking along a road in Grays Farm in 2016.
The suspect, who police said concealed his face with a mask, allegedly brandished a gun as he demanded money from the woman.
During a struggle he reportedly struck the woman across her face with the gun and said he would kill her.
Police said he was interrupted by a passerby and was seen removing the mask as he fled the scene.
He was later arrested by police after investigators received a report with a description of the attacker.
Aska, who is unrepresented, told the court he would like a lawyer but couldn’t afford on since he was “financially embarrassed”.
He is due back in court next Friday.
