After 60 Murders across 2023 & 2024, St. Kitts and Nevis Marks Historic Murder-Free January to Start 2025!

For the first time in over 20 years, St. Kitts and Nevis has begun a new year without a single recorded murder in January. This milestone comes after the Federation averaged approximately 30 murders per year in both 2023 and 2024, marking a hopeful shift in the nation’s crime landscape.

Citizens are celebrating the achievement, with many calling for continued efforts to ensure February follows suit. “Murder-Free January! It’s February 1st, and for the first time in 20 years, St. Kitts and Nevis had no murders in January. Let’s make February a record too,” read one widely shared message.

Despite this positive development, several high-profile murders from 2024 remain unsolved. Among them is the assassination of Azziwah “Milk” Niles-Jones and the fatal shooting of dancehall artiste Krami Imark Oloughlin, with no significant updates from law enforcement on either case.

Additionally, the case involving the vehicular homicide of Dr. Simoneth Williams remains unresolved, with no official word from authorities on arrests or charges against the driver.

While the nation celebrates this rare crime-free month, many are urging the police and government to ensure justice for past victims while maintaining the efforts that contributed to this positive start to 2025.
