St.Kitts World Famous Frigate Bay Strip to Get $7Million Upgrade
The World Famour Frigate Bay Strip will be undergoing major upgrades and enhancement shortly.. That’s according to Minister of Tourism Hon. Lindsay Grant.
Minister Grant mentioned the exciting new developments at the Frigate Bay Strip recently
“The government considers that we have to do our part so we have just broken ground more or less— not officially as yet but probably in the next month or so— for the 7 million dollar infrastructure we are placing on the frigate bay strip in St. Kitts to enhance the tourism product,” he informed.
Minister Grant said he expects plans will be put in place to “replenish and re-energize” the beaches in Frigate Bay and along the coastline which have been damaged by coastal erosion.
The Frigate Bay Strip is the hub of island nightlife, food and entertainment in the Federation. Bars and Restaurants such as Mr X’ Shiggidy Shack, Vibes Bar and Grill, Boozies, Buddies, Inons’, Breezes and the Docks are just some of the establishments currentrly housed at the strip.
The $7 Million upgrade will likely include a boardwalk, parking and amenities
This is excellent news for this area
I’ve statyed twice at the Timothy Beach hotel and both times the beach was in poor condition.
All of the restaurants serve wonderful food but the area is in desperate need of regeneration.
I’m back in October hope to see work has begun.
Hope we don’t see any foreign investors taking over the bars. The strip should remain local.
I love the island just as it be ! I come every year for the easy beauty of the island and their people . Don’t take away its quaint beauty
I think this is a fantastic project to take on. It will do a lot for tourism and the island. I really love this island and in particular the strip. An upgrade even to help walking along the beach will be a welcome change.
Maybe something can be done about the awful smell coming from the pond. Could be a great place for local artists to display and sell their wares to the tourist.
