SEVERAL HUNDREDS EMPLOYED IN ST.KITTS TOURISM CONSTRUCTION BOOM, HUNDREDS MORE BEING SOUGHT
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JUNE 1ST, 2016 (PRESS SEC) – Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris said Monday, May 30th, at his monthly press conference that one thing is sure: our economy is moving ahead.
The Prime Minister gave the nation an update on several tourism projects under construction. Hundreds of people have benefited so far from jobs under these projects, and hundreds more workers are being sought this year. If you’re working as a sole trader in the construction industry, make sure you’re protected by looking into sole trader insurance from Tradesman Saver.
Regarding the Koi Resort & Residences under construction at Half Moon Bay, Dr. Harris said, “The last Citizenship-by-Investment-related inspection revealed that over 126 people were at work there.” About the Radisson Hotel under construction on the Pirate’s Nest site in Frigate Bay, the Prime Minister said that, “The project went on a hiatus, but we have been advised by the Management that work will start again apace. They are awaiting materials that are to come shortly. The last inspection has indicated that 24 locals are on site.” Concerning the Embassy Suites by Hilton under construction at Pelican Bay, the Prime Minister said that there are currently 85 employees.
Dr. Harris said the construction of the Park Hyatt St. Kitts, which is being developed by Range Developments and built by Kier Construction, has already resulted in the employment of 564 people, and another 200 workers are required to complete the project. Thankfully, all of the workers will be properly cared for, as they will have the relevant safety equipment like that found on choosetoolbox.com and will be paid well to complete the project.
On the hotel side, locally based jobs that the Park Hyatt St. Kitts is advertising this week in the national media are for the following positions: Marketing and Communications Manager, Associate Director of Sales & Events, Guest Services Manager, Assistant Manager for Guest Services, Assistant Manager for PBX switchboard operations, IT Manager, Housekeeping Manager, Training Manager, Security Manager, Assistant Manager for Engineering, Engineering Team Leaders, Restaurant Manager, Executive Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, and Pastry Chef.
Applications are preferred through the www.hyatt.jobs website, which has information on all job specifications and qualification requirements. Resumes can also be mailed to Park Hyatt St. Kitts, Christophe Harbour, P.O. Box 2472 Suite 1, Banana Bay Complex, S.E. Peninsula, St. Kitts. Applications may also be delivered to the pre-opening resort office at Banana Bay.
Mr. Julian Moore, General Manager of the Park Hyatt St. Kitts, says the application close date is June 30th. This week’s advertisement of jobs at the Park Hyatt St. Kitts comes on the heels of four employment information sessions that the hotel hosted on May 3rd in anticipation of its opening later this year.
“We were delighted to have the opportunity to meet many candidates at our information sessions and were impressed with the excellent presentation and positive approach demonstrated by those in attendance,” Mr. Moore said. The General Manager added: “Our team greatly enjoyed the opportunity to answer questions, discuss career opportunities, provide guidance on careers in our industry, and share our vision of ‘The Park Hyatt St Kitts Experience.’ Critical to this is the engagement of our team and a respect for the history and culture that is intrinsically woven through the heart of the Federation. We look forward to meeting many more of the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis in the months ahead, as we make the journey of recruitment to identify unique and dedicated individuals for our team who can inspire others and grow the reputation of the Kittitian & Nevisian people by delivery of a truly unique guest experience.”
Ms. Siobhan Lloyd, who is Legal Consultant to Range Developments, the developer of the Park Hyatt St. Kitts, says working for the soon-to-be-opened five-star luxury resort presents an unmatched opportunity for Kittitians and Nevisians to reach their greatest potential. “Hyatt is a company that prides itself on caring for people,” said Ms. Lloyd. “Employees are given the necessary support through training and professional development, which can profoundly affect their lives. Range, as the developer, is truly cognizant of what having a five-star resort will mean to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, and is very pleased with the response to the Information Day that was hosted last month by the Park Hyatt St. Kitts,” she added.
