St. Kitts and Nevis stands in solidarity with the people of France in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks that rocked the French capital of Paris on Friday night, killing at least 127 people and wounding hundreds.

“The government and people of St.Kitts and Nevis join the good people of the world in condemning the attacks on the people of France by those who have demonstrated a proclivity for violence over peace. We reject in the strongest way possible any notion that differences are to be resolved by terror and/or the threat of terror and we renew our commitment, as a member of the world community of nations and as a people, to unswervingly support global action to eradicate terrorism everywhere.”

PM Harris said that the large majority of the peoples of the world, as different as we may be in terms of nationality, language, race, colour, religion, culture, inter alia, have one thing in common and that is the value of being human. Violence, he said, should have no influential value in relation to our behaviours, thoughts and attitudes towards each other or in the resolution of normal disagreements among people. Dr. Harris expressed the wish that as we all look to the future in this rapidly shrinking world, those who embrace the idea of terror will apply a higher priority to peaceful approaches and in doing so demonstrate a preference for humane responses to the challenges that are natural to humanity.
