$1000 CASH Prize up for Grabs in This Friday’s 2nd Annual SKNABA Charles Morton Knockout Basketball Tournament
Basketball City, St.Kitts (March 12th 2016):- The 2016 SKNABA League is set to Officially Open on April 3rd however the Association has announced the staging of the 2nd Annual Charles Morton Knockout Pre-Season Tournament on Friday 18th March at Basketball City.
General-Secretary Wallis Wilkin announced the staging of the 2nd Annual Pre-Season Tournament during the SKNABA most recent General Meeting held on Thursday March 10th 2016. . The Tournament was first held in 2015 and will featured 14 teams from across all the divisions of the SKNABA League.
The Inagural Tournament was a tremendous success and thus anticiaptaion is high for the 2nd Annual event This Friday.
The One night 10 minute a game knockout will begin at 6pm and will culminate later the same evening with a 20 minute FINAL where the winning team will walk away with some $1000 Cash Prize and the second place team with a consolation $500.
The St. Pauls Tuff Knots who are the defending Charles Morton Knockout Cup Champions as well as the SKNABA National League Champions will be seeking to repeat and once again take home the $1000 Cash Prize. The Sandy Falcons who were last year’s runners-up will be looking to exact some revenge and take the top prize.
The Teams selected for the Tournament was based on the first teams to register at Thursday evening’s March 10th General Meeting.
The first round Knockout schedule is as follows
- 1. Hurricanes vs Cayon Lions
- 2. Conaree Fireballs vs Sandy Point Falcons
- 3. Sandy Point Pride vs Hitters
- 4. Rockers X1 vs Runnerz
- 5. Ghetto Roots vs Polstars
- 6. Shottas vs Exodus
- 7. Fig Tree vs Wolfpack

According to the SKNABA the tournament is a pre-season event that will give teams an opportunity to assess their readiness for the upcoming start of the season on April 3rd. It will also serves as the first of a series of events that will be organized by the association to give teams more opportunities to play in addition to using said tournaments to recognize the contributions of individuals to the sport of basketball in the federation.
Charles Morton who is being recognized in this tournament, is a past long time Executive Member of the Ass0ociation and has served in almost every capacity from President to Secretary to PRO of the association. He is also a former National Team Coach and Manager and led the legendary Gunners Basketball Club to SKABA titles back in the mid to late 80’s.
Morton remains a very active supporter of Basketball and up until recently served as the head coach of the Nevis Island Team.
