Kittitian Seven-term US Town Councilor Kenrick Clifton dies
RANDOLPH — Kenrick Clifton, a St.Kitts and Nevis born and raised seven-term member of the Randolph Town Council on Massachucets, died on Thursday, the town announced in a Facebook post. He was 61.
Clifton was a member of the original town council in 2009 and represented District 1. He was the council’s vice president and had previously served as its president.
At-Large Town Councilor Natacha Clerger said Clifton “was a great advocate for not only the constituents in his district but all residents of Randolph over his 14 years in office.”
Born in the Caribbean nation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Clifton attended high school and college in the United States and earned a law degree in the United Kingdom. He worked in the government of St. Kitts and Nevis before moving back to the United States in 1995. He went to work for the MBTA, and most recently served as assistant director of the transit agency’s civil rights office.
“Clifton was a dedicated husband and father,” the post from the town said. “The town offers condolences to his family during this difficult time, His passing is a great loss and he will be tremendously missed.”
Funeral arrangements are pending.
