Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would know that the most anticipated movie of the year made it’s US premiere last night to the delight of comic book fans everywhere. Black Panther, heralded as a game changer for Africans in film has a pretty impressive lineup of Hollywood favorites including Chadwick Boseman, Michael, B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Forest Whitaker , Andy Serkis and Angela Bassett. Holly-wood big names aside, do you know who was all up and through that film? Caribbean people. From the Bahamas all the way down to Guyana and we are here for every bit of it. Here’s the cast that’s about to fill you with so much Caribbean Pride.
Letitia Wright, 24, plays Shuri, in the movie, is the sister of the King of Wakanda and the ‘Smartest Person in the World.’ She was born in Georgetown, Guyana1.
Winston Duke, who plays super villain M’Baku, was born in Argyle Village, Tobago and migrated to the United States when he was nine-years-old
Jason Elwood Hanna was born on February 21, 1985 in Nassau, Bahamas. He is known for his work on Black Panther (2018) as one of the stunt-men on set.
Nabiyah Be plays Nightshade. She is the Brazilian born daughter of Jamaican Reggae sensation Jimmy Cliff.
Sydelle Noel plays one of the Dora Milaje warriors. She was born in Grenada.2

Sekani Solomon, another Tobagonian, revealed earlier this week that he worked on the main end titles Black Panther. Solomon, a motion designer, was born and raised in Hope Village, Tobago but left the country at the age of 20 to pursue motion media design at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).
