Road Town Fast Ferry launches 300-seater vessel- Lady Caroline
– new ferry to travel mainly between Tortola & St Thomas, USVI
SETTING POINT, Anegada, VI- A new ferry could not have been launched at a more appropriate time- a day before the 5th Annual Anegada Lobster Festival this weekend- as it ended up playing a huge part in getting hundreds of patrons comfortably from Tortola to Anegada and return on November 25 and 26, 2017.
Lady Caroline, a 30 metre, 300 seating capacity catamaran, which has a top speed of around 24 knots, was officially launched by Road Town Fast Ferry on Friday November 24, 2017.
The usual route for the ferry will be from Tortola to St Thomas, US Virgin Islands and “now and again between Anegada to Tortola. We will do charters also,” commented boat captain, Jahneal A. Hodge, who is the son of Road Town Fast Ferry owner, Bobby Hodge.
Big, nice & comfortable
The vessel, which was three decks, air-conditioned rooms, a bar, DJ corner, and television, was sourced in Australia and is currently manned by a captain and 3 crew members.
“A lot of people like the boat, for them it is big and nice and comfortable,” Mr Hodge stated.
Lady Caroline, which is named after Jahneal’s grandmother on his father’s side of the family, joins Lady Daisy, named after Bobby Hodge’s sister, as the two vessels in operation for Road Town Fast Ferry.
The latest vessel was sourced some time ago and it thankfully arrived in the Territory after Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
“It came after [hurricanes] Irma and Maria so we were happy,” Mr Hodge stated.
