BALSAM GHUT, Tortola, VI- An altercation involving two prison officers and an inmate of Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut, on the main island of Tortola, resulted in the two prison officers receiving stab wounds yesterday, November 17, 2017, according to reports reaching our newsroom.
The incident allegedly took place sometime after 2:00 P.M.
One prison officer was stabbed on his hand while the other was stabbed in the region of the face.
Both officers were taken to Peebles Hospital but were not listed as being in critical condition.
The prisoner involved in the stabbing is believed to be a St Kitts national.
The instrument used by the prisoner to commit the offence is believed to be a knife, which was recovered, according to reports.
Police did not respond to our queries on the matter up to the time of publication.
