The State-Owned Radio and TV broadcaster the ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation has now officially installed a new board . This new board was announced yesterday and it will be responsible for charting the way forward and take decisions that are in the best interest of the corporation
Former longtime Senior Civil Servant, Permanent Secretary and now Management Consultant Douglas Wattley of Cayon will head the new board . On Wednesday, Wattley met with the ZIZ staff and introduced himself and the Board. He also pledged to serve the Board with diligence and dedication.
Other members of the ZBC Board of Directors are Mansion Village resident Father Jeremy Francis who is a Minister of Religion, Entrepreneur and Lime Kiln resident Samal Duggins, Certified Accountant Gary Moving of Bladens Housing, Educator Peter Govia of Christ Church, Operations Manager at SNIC Lester Hanley of Greenlands, and Bird Rock resident Avernice Jeffers-Thompson who is a Business Executive. Thompson is the Board’s Deputy Chair.
The Board will no doubt be expected to bring the station into the 21st century as it is widely felt that the quality and delivery of programming remains woefully lacking as compared to international standards of broadcasting. The revamping of the station along with an injection of modern broadcasting equipment maybe some of the initial prioties of the new board.
With a staff of 35 Full Time Employees and some 27 PEP workers the board will have to make quick and effective assessments and reviews of the staff and their responsibilities in an effort to maximize the productivity of each staff member.
ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation has a number of media departments including ZIZ Radio 96.1 FM, Big Wave 96.7 FM, ZIZ Television [Channel 5], the website www.zizonline.com, and the newest addition, ZIZ Mobile APP.
