Young American Doctor of Nevisian Parentage Dies Suddenly on Hike of St.Lucia’s Gros Pitons

31 Year Old Medical Doctor Samyka Y. Harris-Edwin died suddenly over the weekend during a climb of the Gros Piton in St.Lucia.
Edwin and her Saint Lucia born husband Micah Edwin were both on the climb when tragedy struck at about 3:30 PM on Sunday.
The husband, who is also a Doctor, administered CPR when he noticed that his wife had encountered difficulty but Edwin never regained consciousness.
Her body was transported to the Soufriere hospital where she was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
A post mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday.

Parents and was on St.Lucia vacationing with her St.Lucia born husband .

Her maiden name was Samyka Harris.

So very sorry to hear of Samyka’s tragic death. We knew her as a child in school here in Brooklyn. Her classmates in PS 99 and in the Girl Scouts loved to be with her. She was good friends with my daughter Amanda and her mother was such a wonderful person, too. My deepest condolences to her family.
