The good news is that Elquemedo Willet is back in Nevis and much improved, after his horrific fall at the ET Willet Park, which caused the dislocation of a vertebra of the neck.

Willet returned to the island on Saturday 10th March, after a trip to the USA to receive corrective surgery.

In an exclusive interview on Wednesday of this week, Willet recalled the journey from the fall to his current rehabilitation.

He took time out to thank, the Red Cross personnel and all others who attended to him, after his fall at the Park and also thanked the Doctors and Nurses at the Alexandra hospital for their care and dedication to the task.

He was very impressed by the operations of the Medical Air Services Association (MASA), as they came to the hospital, strapped him to a bed and took care of him, right to the hospital in florida.

He also beamed as he reported on the health care services provided to him in Florida and noted that the Doctor who performed the operation, is rated as ‘one of the best’ and he had indicated that the operation was successful.

After the operation, he recalled going through a stage of taking ‘baby steps,’ all over again and thanks God that he can now walk fairly normally.

The neck brace is to remain in place and will be on for at least another 6 to 8 weeks but Mr. Willet is giving thanks to God for his spared life and is thanking everyone, home and overseas who prayed with him; prayed for him or even made meaningful financial dionations, towards his recovery.

He indicated that as part of the healing process, he has been advised to take regular walks and he has already done a stint on the Long Point road.

He especially thanks his family dear wife Sandrine, for her continued loving care and attention and hopes to be back to his old normal self, in short order, by God’s grace.

I am really overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from everyone. I feel loved,’ he said, beaming.
