(St.Lucia Times,MAY 19TH, 2017):- Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has unleashed a blistering attack on his predecessor Dr. Kenny Anthony saying that the former Prime Minister lacks vision, has left a legacy of debt and does not care.

The Prime Minister was speaking at a rally in Vieux Fort on Wednesday that was called to counter a mass public protest in Castries organized by the Opposition, St Lucia Labour Party.

Mr. Chastanet said the former Prime Minister had left a legacy of debt while the St Lucian people look on with empty hands and pockets.

“We owe Kenny Anthony and the Labour Party nothing. We gave them everything that they were supposed to have and they wasted that opportunity with lies.”

Mr. Chastanet said Dr. Anthony had failed to bring development to rural communities because he lacked vision.

“He could not see the sense in putting a cruise ship terminal in Vieux Fort. He couldn’t see that Vieux Fort was closer to Soufriere. He couldn’t see that Vieux Fort was closer to Dennery. He couldn’t see that Laborie and Choiseul and the Micouds and the Dennerys could develop because they were closer to the cruise ship. He could not see that because he has no vision and he does not care,” Mr. Chastanet said.

Prime Minister Chastanet said his government will soon be announcing plans for a cruise ship facility in Vieux Fort.

Castries South-East MP, Guy Joseph said the once bustling town of Vieux Fort has now turned into a ghost town under the leadership of Dr. Kenny Anthony.

“Kenny Anthony should be ashamed that after 15 years as Prime Minister, Vieux Fort has moved 25 years backward and not one year forward,” Joseph declared.
