ST.LUCIA Records 18 New Confirmed Covid Cases and 6 More Deaths

Press Release:-  The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Tuesday, October 5, 2021, confirms a total of eighteen (18) new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 88 samples which were collected between October 2 and October 4, 2021.

This number of positive cases makes up 20.4% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in- country to date to 11, 727.

The Ministry of Health also reports six (6) new COVID-19 deaths. All these deaths occurred
during the period September 29, 2021 to October 4, 2021. To date, the total number of COVID- 19 deaths in country is 167 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 48.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 149 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 1,267. One (1) individual is in critical state while seven (7) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 36,103 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 29,769 have received the second dose. A total of 10,629 individuals have received the first dose and 3,822 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccinations will continue tomorrow Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Vigie Sports Complex, Dennery Mothers’ Pre-School and the St. Anthony Medical Center at its Vieux Fort location. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 2 pm.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs will continue providing daily updates to the public as new information becomes available.
