Basseterre, St.Kitts (May 28th, 2018):-Citizens and Residents ON St.Kitts have been expressing their outrage at what seems to be a organised and well coordinated effort to meticulously vandalise and deface government properties. Over the last 2 weeks a number of structures have been defaced with Grafitti exhibiting anti-government messages. The vanadalism began at approximately the same period of an Opposition Leader Dr. Denzil Douglas led press conference in which PRIME Minister Dr. Timothy Harris was asked to resign based on unsubstantiated and “hear-say” statements in a UK Court document.
The condemnation of the vandalism has also come with a call by many for legislation that deals specifically with vandalism and defacement of public and private property. Legislation that not only deals with the perpetrators but the individuals and groups behind the scenes that conspire to orchestrate these activities.
The spate in vandalism of public property is widely seen as an obvious attempt by the St.Kitts-Nevis Opposition to create or give the impression of instability in the Federation.
Unconfirmed reports have suggested that Police sources have indicated that CCTV cameras may have captured at least one of the incidents of vandalism.
