Prime Minister Harris Reaches Out to Prime Minister Skerrit in wake of devastation to Dominica caused by TS Erika

Earlier today, the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris reached out to his counterpart the Prime Minister of Dominica the Hon Roosevelt Skerrit and expressed profound sympathy and concern on the death and destruction that Tropical Storm Erika caused to the people of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Prime Minister Harris gave Prime Minister Skerrit his commitment on behalf of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis to provide as much support and assistance to Dominica as necessary in this time of tragedy and devastation.

PM Skerrit thanked Prime Minister Harris for his concern and support. He also used the opportunity to give an update regarding the situation in Dominica in the wake of Tropical Storm Erika. PM Skerrit indicated that the damage there has been tremendous and confirmed that there had been several lives lost, many persons injured, as well as some persons that are being reported missing. He was unable to confirm exact numbers in each case but gave a commitment to PM Harris that he will communicate with him and provide an update in due course.

Prime Minister Harris told PM Skerrit the people of St. Kitts and Nevis join the fraternity of Caribbean people in prayer for the people of Dominica. “I join all Kittitians and Nevisians and indeed the fraternity of Caribbean people in expressing deepest sympathies to the families of the victims. We pray for the safety of those missing as well as the speedy and full recovery of those injured.”
PM Harris ended the conversation by reiterating the commitment of the Government and People of St. Kitts and Nevis in providing support where possible and assured PM Skerrit that the collective prayers of the People of St. Kitts and Nevis are with the People of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Dr. Harris acknowledged that the resilience and faith of Dominicans will see them through this latest challenge. He said the Team Unity administration stands ready to help Dominica return to a state of normalcy. “I am confident that the strength, resilience and resoluteness of the people of Dominica, anchored by an abiding faith in the Almighty God, will see your country through this grave misfortune. Please be assured that my government stands ready to assist your country in any way that we can, to ensure a speedy recovery and return to normalcy.”
