President of Caribbean Association of Administrative Assistants Calls for an Apology from St.Kitts-Nevis Opposition Leader Over Most Recent Misogynistic Statements

Basseterre, St.Kitts (May 5th 2016):- St.Kitts-Nevis Leader of the Opposition Dr. Denzil Douglas is once again coming in for heavy criticism for mysogonistic statements . President of the Caribbean Assoc iation of Administrative Assistants Ms Cyndie P. Demming has blasted the Opposition Labour Party Leader for statement made during a radio call in programme on Wednesday May 4^th . During the call in segment of the programme the long time Labour Party leader insulted a female caller who suggested that as a former Prime Minister he should do more to assist the development of the country as opposed to merely criticsing everything the current Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris led Team UNITY Administration does . The Female caller Sylvene was sharply rebuffed by Dr. Douglas with the response “Sylvene go and bag your face as we would say in St. Pauls.” The statement outraged listeners and in particular women who are expressing their resentment and displeasure with the statement by the ousted Prime Minister.

In a statement release via social Media the President of the Caribbean Association of Administrative Assistants said in part “I listened sadly yesterday (Wednesday 4 May, 2016) to Freedom FM106.5 FM Radio station (Issues) hosted by Junie Liburd when the former PM Douglas in his wrap up, in response to a question/suggestion posed by Sylvine Henry, he said and i am quoting him verbatim, “Sylvine go and bag your face as they say in St Pauls”. Well the respect I had for the former PM has disappeared. I now wonder what kind of beast is he to insult Mrs Henry? That to my mind is the worst kind of insult.”

Ms Demming who is an executive member of the St.Kitts National Council of Women also called on all women to join her and demand and apology from Dr. Douglas.

Demming declared “ As a woman like Sylvine i call on on women especially as mother’s day is approaching us to Speak Up and demand an apology from the former PM Douglas and never, ever to vote or support the party that he now leads.

It is imperative that we as a people demand and get the respect we deserve; first by respecting ourselves and secondly respecting others.”

This is not the first time that the disgraced Labour Party Leader has come in for heavy criticism over mysogonistic or sexist comments. In the lead up to the last General Elections the former Prime Minister was blasted over comments in which he declared that any leader who has to consult with is wife or a woman in order to make decisions is a “Kunumunu !”

The Fiesty Labour Party Leader is well known for making outrageous statements on the platform. On the eve of the 2015 General Elections he threatened to wound and kill when he declared “Not one man stand alive all mad dead or wounded” in reference to a then opposition stronghold which he vowed to conquer.
