PM HARRIS JOINS REGIONAL HEADS FOR CARICOM SUMMIT
July 2nd, 2015- A packed and hectic programme awaits Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris as he participates in the 36th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), taking place in Bridgetown, Barbados, 2-4 July, 2015.
In addition to several plenary sessions, Heads will engage in several caucus meetings, working breakfast and luncheon meetings with visiting heads of state and Secretary General of the United Nation H. E. Ban- Ki moon and President of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela, respectively.
Several bilateral meetings are also slated to take place between St.Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister and representatives of international governments including Italy.
Prime Minister Harris will deliver remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the Caricom Summit starting at 4.30 pm.
The lengthy agenda of the Summit includes 17 items plus the opening ceremony. It also includes discussion on a regional candidate for the post of Secretary General of the 53-nation Commonwealth, a presentation by Sir Hillary Beckles, Vice Chancellor of University of the West Indies, on “universities and the push for economic growth in the region” and crime.
Prime Minister Harris is accompanied by Senior Minister, Hon. Vance Amory, Ambassador to Caricom H. E. Sidney Osborne and Foreign Service Officer, Ms.Sonia Boddie.
