LONDON: St. Kitts Nevis Diplomat Honoured In London
St. Kitts Nevis High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, His Excellency Dr Kevin M. Isaac was last night presented the award for Diplomat of the Year for North America and the Caribbean at the Diplomat Magazine annual Award presentation held in London at the Langham Hotel.
The High Commissioner was celebrated for his efforts in “promoting the interests of small states in international decision-making”. The awards ceremony continues to celebrate and to recognize the outstanding work and achievements of London’s diplomatic community. Last evening’s event marked the DIPLOMAT Magazine’s 7th annual Awards Ceremony.
This award is unique because the winners are nominated by their peers. Editor of Diplomat Magazine, Ms Venetia de Blocq van Kuffeler in her introductory remarks said, “this is an award ceremony for diplomats, with the award-winners voted for by diplomats. The only one of its kind in the world, this evening is not about politics or policies; it is about people and professionalism.”
In his acceptance speech, High Commissioner Isaac thanked his “fellow diplomats for the unique honor which celebrates his country, St. Kitts Nevis and small states diplomacy. The over 250 guests, who included Ambassadors and High Commissioners from more than 80 missions as well as other diplomats from more than100 countries and special guests were treated to a champagne reception.
DIPLOMAT magazine identified 10 categories that distinguish different levels of diplomacy.
Other Heads of Mission honoured last evening included the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (Diplomat of the Year for the Middle East); the High Commissioner of Cyprus (Diplomat of the Year for Europe); Ambassador of the Philippines (Diplomat of the Year for Asia); Ambassador of Honduras (Diplomat of the year for Central and South America); and Ambassador of Ethiopia (Diplomat of the Year for Africa).
The evening was sponsored by the Langham London, International Diplomatic Supplies (IDS), International Hospitals Group, The Ambassador Partnership and the London Academy of Diplomacy.
