HIS EXCELLENCY AMBASSADOR IAN LIBURD PERSONALLY CONGRATULATES 24 FAMILIES WHO WERE RECIPIENTS OF BRAND NEW WELLINGTON ROAD CONDOS
=========================
“I had the honour of personally congratulating the 24 recipients of the Brand New Wellington Road Condominium Apartments. I was not able to make it there to participate in the handing over ceremony of these apartments so my way of congratulating each of them was to provide a house-warming gift along with a basket of food and household supplies.” This was the sentiment of Ambassador His Excellency Ian Liburd on Sunday afternoon when he was overwhelmingly and warmly greeted by some 24 families who all benefited from one of his many legacy projects namely the Wellington Road Condos.
Ambassador Liburd said “This project was my Brainchild. While in opposition I committed to demolishing the original CHA houses built in the 1950s and replace them with what stands here now.”
“I obviously still have some unfinished tasks because my intention was to build homes on Wellington Road and West Street for 60 families but only 24 units of planned 60 have been constructed to date. We intended to build temporary housing at Ponds Estate to facilitate the relocation of final but only 12 units were completed and the final 12 is near completion,” Liburd continued
Ambassador Liburd indicated that much of what he promised and envisioned remains outstanding and said that funding isn’t an issue as he had negotiated and secured full funding for the project since 2015 . “The plans to demolish those old CHA houses at East Street and replace them with 20 modern condominium units is still outstanding. Funds for all this construction was agreed since 2015 so money is not the problem,” said Liburd
Ambassador expressed his continued commitrment to the development of East Basseterre and its people and Constituency.
“To my friends, neighbours, constituents and fellow Kittitians and Nevisians you said that wherever I am going you are coming with me but I can assure you that I am not going anywhere without you. I will be your advocate for improving housing conditions in East Basseterre and by extension in St Kitts and Nevis,” Declared the Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
