Dejour shares life teachings as he celebrates 25th Birthday
By SKN Times Writer
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts: It’s Dejour! And it’s his 25th Birthday!!!! Dejour has been warming our hearts since winning the ZIZ 50TH Anniversary Song Competition at 14! And is still a musical wonder who is showing no signs of slowing down! SKN Times caught up with the ‘Secret’ and the ‘Love Potion’ artist who shared what fatherhood has taught him so far and hints about a new project in the works.
SKN Times: Dejour! What have you been up to, how is life going?
Dejour: I’ve just been trying to stay safe, not only for myself but for my family.
SKN Times: You started out in the entertainment industry, at a very young age. If you can turn back the hands of time would you do anything differently?
Dejour: I don’t think I would’ve done anything different. My past experiences taught me and shaped me into what I am today.
SKN Times: Do you have any new projects in the works coming out soon?
Dejour: Yes, I do actually. I’m just trying to perfect my craft before I put it out for public consumption.
SKN Times: So many people have lost their life. Whose death has impacted you the most and why?
Dejour: Every death in this federation affects me… They often times make me wonder if my number would call next. One of my biggest fears is leaving my Princess behind.
SKN Times: So what is Fatherhood like and what has it taught you so far?
Dejour: Fatherhood is an everyday learning experience. We’re never fully equipped to be fathers right away and that’s okay, but you have to be willing to adapt and protect that little soul. I think Fatherhood taught me how to be patient, how to be more sensitive. I’ve learned to love my own life more because I want to be in my daughter’s. I witness her go from crying to laughing uncontrollably in seconds that in itself is a lesson taught by children. A lesson of how triumphant we can be if we only weather the metaphorical storms we are constantly faced with.
SKN Times: Sounds like you are on the right track! Tell us something about you that no one else knows.
Dejour: In a crowd of people I still feel alone.
SKN Times: Favorite place to hang out in St. Kitts?
Dejour: The beach or the hills
SKN Times: What do you find attractive about the opposite sex?
Dejour: I like women who are goal-oriented, beautiful but gangsta and trustworthy.
SKN Times: Which artist inspires you?
Dejour: Nipsey Hussle and Chronixx
SKN Times: Future goals?
Dejour: After conquering the world with my music, I’d like to branch off into other business ventures like real estate. I plan on owning a few franchises around the Caribbean as well.
SKN Times: This is your 25th Birthday, what lessons have you learnt so far that still resonates with you?
Dejour: We’re the last of a dying breed. Live life to the fullest and don’t be afraid to take a risk for what you love.
