CoP Erla Falls Ill While in Custody, Taken for Medical Treatment

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – Commissioner of Police (CoP) Erla Harewood-Christopher was rushed to the hospital on January 30 after she reportedly fell ill while in custody at the St Clair Police Station. According to police sources, Harewood-Christopher complained of feeling unwell during her detention, prompting immediate medical attention.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m., when Harewood-Christopher was detained by officers assigned to the operations unit within the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Suzette Martin. She was held at her office at the Police Administration Building on Sackville Street, Port of Spain.

The arrest came just hours after Major Roger Best, the former director of the Strategic Services Agency (SSA), was taken into custody at his Arima residence in connection with the ongoing investigation into the purchase of illegal weapons.

The developments have stirred significant public attention, as the investigation intensifies in connection with high-profile figures allegedly involved in criminal activities.

As of now, it remains unclear whether Harewood-Christopher’s condition is related to stress or other health concerns. The police have not released further details, but it is confirmed that she is receiving the necessary medical care.

The situation has sent shockwaves through the law enforcement community, as both Harewood-Christopher and Major Best are under scrutiny amid the continuing probe.
