It brings together 13 presidents of legislative bodies and representatives of the Caribbean Women Parliamentarians (CWP) and young legislators.
Also present as guests, but with voting rights, San Cristobal legislators from various sectors, local newspaper The St Kitts Nevis Observer reported.
Previous to the inauguration was developed in this capital the X Conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Women, organized by the CWP.
Tomorrow will take place the XXIII regional debate of the Commonwealth Youth Parliament, attended by the 13 presidents.
The CPA is a Commonwealth partner organization that links members of national, state, provincial and territorial parliaments and legislatures.
Its mission is to promote the advancement of parliamentary democracy by improving the knowledge and understanding of democratic governance in their respective countries.
This conference, which will be attended by lawmakers from Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, will close on Friday after the election of the new CPA executive.
