Charlestown, Nevis (March 24th 2017)-St.Kitts-Nevis Minister of Foreign Affairs the Hon. Mark Brantley has been nominated to lead the Concerned Citizens Movement Party on Nevis. The decision as to who will lead the 30 year Old Party into the next Nevis Island election due by January 2018, will come down to the party’s caucus which will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017.

 

Reports indicate that St.Kitts-Nevis Senior Minister and Premier of Nevis the current  CCM Leader for the last 30 years, Hon. Vance Amory will be stepping down. A new leader will be elected. According to a party member a number of persons have been nominated for positions within the party. These positions will be ratified at the caucus.

 

 

The nominations as they stand are current Deputy Premier, Hon. Mark Brantley as leader, Hon. Alexis Jeffers as Deputy leader, Hon Hazel Brandy-Williams as Chairperson, Mr. Keith Scarborough as Deputy Chairperson, Mr. Oscar Walters as Treasurer, Ms. Lorna Hunkins as Secretary and Mr. Timothy Caines as PRO.

 

According to a party official, “It is a nomination.  It has to go to caucus and at caucus we will then vote on it. A meeting of the political party where each constituency has a designated number of persons from the cell groups that come together and make decisions of this nature”.

The CCM will be following their Team UNITY Partners the PLP who themselves will be conducting their party caucus and convention the day before on March 25th. The People’s Action Movement who holds more seats than any other political party in the federation and the major partner in the Team UNITY Tri-Party government will also be holding similar Caucus and Convention activities on April 8th the date of their Caucus and April 23rd the date of the Conventrion. All Three Parties are seeking to further strengthen their respective organisation in an effort to kae their Tri-Party Team UNITY Coalition an Indomitable Force in St.Kitts-Nevis Politics.
