(Observer) Antiguan boxer, Alston Ryan, punched his way to top honours in the Light Welterweight division of Europe’s Box Cup, held in England at the Great Hall, Alexander Palace on Sunday.

Ryan, son of John Ryan who is coach of the Cobra Boxing Gym here in Antigua, defeated Tom Tennant in the semifinals before going on to beat Tin Stance in the finals. The Antiguan won both bouts on points.

Boxing out of the Repton Gym in London, the place where former Light Middleweight boxer and fellow Antiguan, Maurice Hope trained, Alston continues to impress the coaching staff as he remains resolute in his quest to bring home Olympic gold to Antigua and Barbuda.

Meanwhile, local boxers are in training for the Creole games to be held in St. Lucia from 4-9 July, 2017.
