ST.KITTS: JOBS , JOBS, JOBS !!!! Government Employment Agency Announces Vacancies
July 27, 2015 (SKNIS): Multiple full and part time job vacancies in more than 35 different areas are waiting to be filled by residents of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Employment opportunities are available for a wide array of skills in tiling, dry wall installation, scaffolding, mechanical steel bending, painting, roofing, landscaping, masonry, carpentry and meat cutting. Other requests for workers include housekeeper, waiter/waitress, restaurant manager, plant operator, asset and protection officer, reservation coordinator, front office clerk, cleaner, security officer, truck driver and many more.
Details about the vacancy and other work related information can be obtained from the Department of Labour’s Employment Agency which is a one stop center where employers advertise vacancies and job seekers can apply.
When someone registers with the Employment Agency their information is entered into a database. Some may make use of ARC Resumes to get this information in order beforehand. Their skills are matched against the requirements of the employers and those that best fit the qualification, are interviewed by the labour agency. Successful candidates are then given a Letter of Introduction to take to the employer for the formal job interview. The companies are also informed of the selection.
Hiring is not guaranteed but officials say the letter from the labor department does make a difference. Moreover, candidates could improve their resumes by taking online courses such as this ECDL course in the required field, which could allow them to stand out amongst other applicants and may help them get selected. As such, persons are encouraged to register with the Employment Agency on New Street in Basseterre.
“Registration is free and it only takes a couple of minutes to complete the form,” an official at the agency explained “Registering also cuts down on the time used on a job search and it provides a critical link to the Department of Labour and its vast network of knowledgeable and experienced staff and a variety of programmes.”
Senior Minister and Minister of Labour Premier Hon. Vance Amory is encouraging all citizens to take advantage of the opportunities that are now available at the Employment Agency.
Additional information is available by telephone 467-1357.
