WATCH: Tradewinds 15 Opening Ceremony for Phase 1 ( Camp Springfield, St.Kitts)
Tradewinds is a combined and joint exercise, conducted in three phases, that helps build the capacity of nations in the Caribbean to better respond to natural disasters, as well as land and maritime threats, including illicit trafficking. Each participating country looks to improve key security-mission areas through the equal exchange of knowledge and expertise. Regional Challenges require cooperative solutions; Tradewinds provides the opportunity for all participants to collaborate together and ensure regional security, including at the executing level of leadership. The combined, joint U.S. Southern Command-sponsored exercise strengthens the capacity of Caribbean nations to respond to natural disasters, humanitarian crises and counter transnational organized crime.
