Vincentian Scholars Shine in Taiwan as SVG Embassy Celebrates Graduates’ Academic Success

TAIPEI, TAIWAN — The Embassy of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the Republic of China (Taiwan) is celebrating the academic achievements of several Vincentian students who have successfully completed their studies at leading universities in Taiwan, marking another proud moment for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on the international education stage.

Among the outstanding graduates is Shemar Kofi Leacock, who completed a Master of Science in Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Dong Hwa University (NDHU). During his studies, Mr. Leacock also distinguished himself by receiving the Computer Science and Information Engineering Undergraduate Project Exhibition Excellence Award.

Mr. Leacock was one of six Vincentians who graduated from NDHU on June 6, 2026. His Excellency Ambassador Kenton X. Chance attended the graduation ceremony and extended congratulations to the graduates on behalf of the Government and people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Ambassador Chance noted that NDHU has become increasingly attractive to Vincentian students, both for Mandarin Chinese studies and degree programmes. He further highlighted the growing importance of Hualien, where NDHU is located, as a meaningful centre for Vincentian student life in Taiwan.

According to Ambassador Chance, Hualien has also become an important place in Taiwan for the annual celebration of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ National Heroes Day on March 14.

“The Embassy of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Republic of China (Taiwan) looks forward to continuing its partnership with NDHU and Hualien as a whole to deepen the people-to-people ties between our great nations,” Ambassador Chance said.

The Embassy also congratulated D’vanté Jordache Neverson, who completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at National Dong Hwa University.

Reflecting on his academic journey, Mr. Neverson described his university experience as one “filled with challenges, late nights, learning experiences, and personal growth.”

Ambassador Chance met with Mr. Neverson on June 6, 2026, as NDHU held its graduation ceremony, and conveyed the congratulations of the Government and people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, while wishing him success in his future endeavours.

The Embassy also celebrated the achievement of Jeva Alfred, who completed a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Diplomacy at Ming Chuan University International College.

Ms. Alfred was awarded the Outstanding Academic Award at her graduation on June 6, 2026, and earned a place on the Dean’s List five times during her studies. She described her academic journey as one of “growth, resilience, and self-discovery” while adjusting to a new culture, language, and academic environment.

Mrs. Symantha Chance, wife of Ambassador Kenton X. Chance, represented the Ambassador at Ms. Alfred’s graduation and conveyed his personal congratulations.

The Embassy extended best wishes to Mr. Leacock, Mr. Neverson, Ms. Alfred, and all Vincentian graduates in Taiwan, praising their discipline, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.

Their achievements stand as a powerful example of the growing educational, cultural, and diplomatic bonds between Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Taiwan, while also reflecting the promise and potential of Vincentian youth on the global stage.
