Minister of Agriculture Hon. Eugene Hamilton left the Federation on Sunday to officiate as Chairman of the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism at meetings held in Belize

Minister Hamilton accompanied by Director of Marine Resources Mr. Marc Williams arrived in Belize on Monday as scheduled

On Tuesday the Ninth Special Meeting of the Ministerial Council which commenced at 9am, discussed a fifteen item agenda which included such topics as “Aquaculture, IIU Fishing, WTO/WECAFC reorientation process” in preparation for the second meeting scheduled for Wednesday

In his opening remarks Minister Hamilton reminded his Ministerial colleagues that meeting as CARICOM’s Chief decision makers of regional fishing policy was a unique opportunity to positively influence the quality of life of fishers and consumers as well as ensure the sustainability of the regions major source of protein

The second meeting which is being held today Wednesday is a joint meeting of the CRFM and OSPESCA which will be jointly chaired by both organizations
