Authorities have stated that the incident is being investigated  as a murder-suicide.

Dead in the apparent murder-suicide is St.Kitts National Dominick “Manny”  Richards and

. Richards 49, shot and killed Anishalee Cortes, 22, on the driveway of his home before he turned the gun on himself and took his own life. 

New Jersey police found the bodies of Cortes, of Newark, and Richards , originally

from St.Kitts,  at about 2:30 p.m. and pronounced them dead at the home. 

Authorities found a handgun at the scene. Autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday. 

“Manny” as he was popularly known in St.Kitts grew up in Newtown and was a well known personality. He migrated to the US in the 90’s. He was a former member of the New York based St.Kitts Band , Damaj along with other St.Kitts musicians Carl” Ras Valley” Archibald and Kieth “Keibo” OgArro and Bingo Bongo Charles among others.
