The St. Kitts and Nevis Graduates Soccer Club of New York continues to work tirelessly to encourage young men of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis residing overseas to aspire for excellence through academics and sports.
For over 15 years, the St. Kitts-Nevis Graduates Soccer Club has positively impacted the lives of students seeking to further their studies and many of these young men have been able to realize their dream of higher education through football.
On Friday May 19, 2017, Dajhal Kelly and Ian James graduated from Herkimer Community College, in upstate New York. Both players were members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Graduates Soccer Club football team last season. Dajhal made his presence felt as a Forward/Striker and Ian played as a defender, primarily Right defense. Both players had very successful seasons at Herkimer.
Dajhal’s impressive play allowed him to excel. He won several awards last season, including NSCAA All American Selection; NSCAA All East Region 1st team and Mountain Valley Conference Player of the year. Dajhal graduated with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts, Cum Laude, an indication of his ability to work valiantly at academics and sports.
Ian has also proven to be a well-rounded student athlete whose football game has continuously improved. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Business.
Both men anticipate moving on to 4 year schools to complete their College education.
The success of these student athletes has been because of their hard work no doubt, but they have fortunately benefited from meaningful partnerships with the St. Kitts-Nevis Graduates Soccer Club of New York, as well as the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association, who provided invaluable contributions toward the success of both student athletes. In fact, the St. Kitts-Nevis Graduates Soccer Club of New York provided some financial support through its Textbook Assistance Program, as well as other support and guidance during the academic tenure of both athletes. This success story is testimony to the value of relationship building at home and in the Diaspora.
James and Kelly, like others before them, sought the tenured experience of the executive and members of the St. Kitts-Nevis Graduates Soccer Club to pursue their academic and sports goals.
This partnership has opened doors of opportunities for the young men and they are expected to continue to build on that solid foundation that can pave the way to success and help shape their future as leaders in their respective fields.
The St. Kitts-Nevis Graduates Soccer Club extends warm wishes to the promising footballers and their families and wish them continued success in all of their endeavors.
