Car czar Ernie Boch Jr., who hosted the very first Donald Trump For President fundraiser back in 2015, hasn’t heard anything from the president-elect about whether he’ll be rewarded for his loyalty with a plum Trump administration post, but he’d definitely be interested.

“I have not been contacted by Mr. Trump,” Boch told the Boston Herald on Thursday . “But if he did offer me something in his administration, I would absolutely consider it.”

The auto tycoon, who runs Subaru of New England in the Northeast USA, the company that distributes Subarus and parts to the six New England states, could be in line for an ambassadorship in a Trump administration. Presidents have long rewarded political supporters with plum diplomatic appointments, and although Boch declined to discuss any possible scenarios, but he does own a home on Nevis and of course there is currently a Barack Obama appointee currently serving as Ambassador to St.Kitts-Nevis in Larry Palmer. Boch may very well be considered to replace Palmer considering his ties to the country through ownership of various properties in the federation.

Boch was one of the earliest supporters of the real-estate-mogul-turned-politician, hosting a big bash for Trump at his mansion in 2015. More than 1,000 people in the Democratic stronghold turned out to hear the GOP candidate, and many skeptics turned supporters that night, Boch said.

“I would say half the people there were not there to support him,” Boch said. “But he has a charismatic quality that people wanted to come and see. I don’t think he turned anyone off that night, I think he gained support.”

Boch has since done a number of national interviews in support of Trump, especially during the New Hampshire primary, and he saw the president-elect at a fundraiser in Boston last summer.

The Automobile magnate said he believes most of the critics are afraid of a Trump presidency, thinking it will be an extension of the GOP standard-bearer’s campaign.

“I think people need to take him seriously, but shouldn’t take him literally,” Boch said. “He probably said 3,000 crazy things, any one of which would have killed any other candidate. But he was bulletproof because enough people didn’t take him literally. I’m not afraid of President Trump and I don’t think people should be.”

Boch said he believes Trump will ultimately be judged by what he does for the U.S. economy – and that will be all good.

“Everyone said the stock market would go down 1,000 points when he got elected, but it’s done nothing but go up. I, for one, have looked online at things like a motley fool stock advisor review to see what I can invest,” he said. “I think he’s going to be great for the economy and great for America.”
