Less than 2 months after the federation of St.Kitts-Nevis was rocked by an unprecedented Triple Murder at the most popular night entertainment area the twin island federation finds itself reeling once again with another unprecedented killing. A young man was shot multiple times at the main JNF General Hospital while waiting to be treated by doctors in the out-patients department.

Local WINN FM News reported that  Shots rang out as two gunmen chased the teen through the Accident and Emergency area, firing several shots at him and wounding him about his body.

The teen is identified as 19 year old Kaheel Herbert. Herbert  ran into the treatment area and was pursued by the gunmen, who continued to fire at him as he ran pumping several shots into his body. Herbert succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday  afternoon.

Citizens used the plethora of local radio talk shows to express shock and outrage as the country continues to experience unprecedented instances of violent crimes. For the first time in the country’s history three persons were shot and killed at the same time back in July.  This most recent incident is the first time that someone has been shot and killed within the confines of the main general hospital.

Over the last 8 years the country has seen unprecedented levels of crime. In 2011 the capital city of Basseterre was listed as the most murderous city in the world and the country was listed as having the highest murder rate per capita in the world.

Over 250 young men and women have been shot and killed on the streets of St.Kitts-Nevis over the last 10 years with most going undetected. Less than 20% of the murders have been solved and has resulted in any convictions.  No one has been charged with the triple murder of a few weeks ago.

St.Kitts-Nevis has the highest murder rate in the Caribbean for 2013 . This was the 10^th murder for the year.
