Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Announces Plans to Establish a Civil Service Institute

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 30, 2023

In a significant move towards bolstering the proficiency and professionalism of the Civil Service, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, led by Prime Minister the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, has unveiled plans for the creation of a dedicated Civil Service Institute.

During the Federation Parliament’s session on October 30, Prime Minister Dr. Drew underscored the vital importance of this endeavor.

“Throughout the years, concerns have been raised about certain aspects of our Civil Service. In our pursuit of excellence and unwavering commitment to the citizens of our beloved nation, we have taken these concerns seriously. Our response is to invest in the continuous development of our Civil Servants,” stated the Prime Minister.

The establishment of the Civil Service Institute reflects the government’s resolute approach to addressing the challenges confronting the Civil Service. Envisioned as a center for comprehensive training, it will cover crucial areas such as customer service, leadership, ethics, and public administration, among others.

“We believe that through targeted training and development programs, we can ensure our Civil Servants are better equipped to meet the evolving needs of our nation. This institute will play a pivotal role in preparing our Civil Servants, ensuring they deliver the highest standards of service to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis who so rightly deserve it,” Dr. Drew emphasized.

The Prime Minister extended his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all stakeholders who have actively contributed to this initiative thus far.
