BATTICE BROTHERS AMONG FOUR CHARGED IN RELATION TO SEIZURE OF ILLEGAL FIREARMS
Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 27, 2016, (RSCNPF) Four persons have been charged after being arrested for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition earlier this week.
The seizures of two illegal firearms occurred during the execution of search warrants by Police in New Roads and Pond Extension.
A search warrant executed on Monday (May 23) in New Roads resulted in the discovery and seizure of 45mm pistol and 7 rounds of 45mm ammunition. Formally charged in that incident is Tyrel Hendricks of New Road. Hendricks was charged for the offences of possession of an illegal firearm and possession of ammunition. He was granted bail in the sum of $20,000.00 with the conditions of reporting to the Basseterre Police Station every Friday between the hours of 6.00am and 6.00pm and was required to surrender all travel documents to the Magistrate Court.
The second discovery of an illegal firearm occurred on Wednesday (May 25), charged in that incident are Glenville Assent, Keon Battice and Kylon Battice of Ponds Extension. All were arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of illegal possession of firearm and possession of ammunition. They remain in custody.
The seizures this week brings to eleven (11) the number of illegal firearms seized in the Federation to date this year.
