XIII Meeting of Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC) National Coordinators pay tribute to Elvis Newton
The XIII Meeting of National Coordinators of the Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC) convened today in Quito, Ecuador. This three (3) day meeting brings together officials from the 33 member states of CELAC who serve as a link between the Member States and the Pro Tempore Secretariat by coordinating and directly monitoring topics under discussion.
In his welcome remarks at the opening of the meeting, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs in Ecuador, Ambassador Leonardo Arizaga paid special tribute to Mr. Elvis Newton who was the National Coordinator for St. Kitts-Nevis at the time of his death. He spoke of Mr. Newton’s professionalism and his contributions to discussions at meetings and expressed condolences to the Government of St. Kitts-Nevis and the family of Mr. Newton. Following his remarks he invited the entire gathering to observe a minute’s silence in honour of the memory of Mr. Newton.
The meeting in Ecuador is being attended by Ms. Lorna Hunkins, Special Advisor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Thouvia France, Foreign Service Officer.
The meeting ends on Friday 28th August.
