St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): After 35 years in charge of the St Kitts-Nevis Cable Communications Ltd (The Cable), Managing Director Bill Ewing is stepping down and handing the reins over to Patricia Walters, a former CEO of Cable and Wireless. Mr. Ewing’s 30 percent stake in The Cable is now owned by the Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation (SIDF). The government maintains its majority stake in the provider of cable tv services, internet broadband and voice over IP services.
At a ceremony at The Cable office, Mr. Ewing paid tribute to the early investors and said some of the early employees were still with the company.
The new CEO praised Mr. Ewing over his stewardship of The Cable over the years.
“The Cable is synonymous with you, you have built an excellent foundation. You were a visionary way back, 35 years ago and all I can do is feel very privileged to be able to stand on your foundations and build the company up from there. …I want to make the staff proud and the customers and the federation” she said.
Ms. Walters whose father hails from St. Kitts and her mother from Nevis was among 147 applicants for the position.
