In a grand celebration of its golden jubilee, National Caribbean Insurance Company Ltd. (NCI) paid tribute to individuals who played pivotal roles in its five-decade journey. Among the esteemed honorees was Former Deputy Prime Minister Eugene Hamilton, whose remarkable contributions shaped NCI’s growth.Founded in 1973, NCI emerged as a beacon of financial security in the Caribbean, with roots tied to the St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank. Initially starting with a capital of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, NCI’s journey was marked by resilience and strategic expansion.Navigating regulatory constraints, National Bank established a Trust company to oversee the shares of the budding insurance venture. With humble beginnings, NCI commenced operations with a modest team of three: Fitzroy Jones, Denzil Crooke, and Rhoda Tweed, working diligently from a small office on Church Street.The jubilee festivities commenced with a reverent service at Antioch Baptist Church, uniting present and past staff, loyal customers, and former employees. The Gala Dinner, held at the prestigious Marriott, welcomed over four hundred esteemed guests, including stalwarts from Anguilla, Nevis, and St. Kitts.Denzil Crooke, one of the pioneering trio who opened NCI’s doors in 1973, delivered an inspiring address. A poignant highlight of the evening was the distribution of awards, with recognition extending to all past General Managers. Among these distinguished leaders were luminaries like Fitzroy Jones, Oliver Morton, Judith Attong, Michael Martin, and Cedric Jeffers.The celebration embodied NCI’s enduring commitment encapsulated in the theme, “At 50 we stand tall; NCI cares for all.” Eugene Hamilton’s indelible legacy stands as a testament to the company’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the financial well-being of the Caribbean community.
