Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 16, 2017 (SKNIS):  Harmony of the Seas, the largest passenger cruise ship in the world belonging to the Oasis class, made its sixth and final call to St. Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday, August 16, for the 2016-2017 cruise season, after making its inaugural call to the federation on Wednesday, May 03, 2017.

The August 16 visit, which is considered low peak season, brought approximately 6,400 passengers to the shores of St. Kitts and Nevis, with the same repeated number for the previous calls on May 24June 14 and July 05 and 26.

Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Lindsay Grant, said that the visit of Harmony of the Seas, like any other cruise line that visits the island is of paramount importance to both the federation and the tourism sector.

During its inaugural visit, Minister Grant described the arrival of Harmony of the Seas as an impressive feat, noting that it was extremely special for St. Kitts and Nevis, having the largest ship in the world docked at Port Zante.

He said that the period known as the dull season has certainly not been dull and this is testament to show that the tourism product, which includes great customer service, unique and enticing tours and excursions, even during the off-peak season demonstrates that St. Kitts and Nevis can attract cruise ships with passenger capacities over 6, 000.

Harmony of the Seas, which is the newest addition to Royal Caribbean’s award-winning Oasis Class fleet, was launched on June 19, 2015. She was declared the largest passenger ship in the world, surpassing her older sisters Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas. It holds a capacity of almost 10,000, which comprises of 5,479 passengers at double occupancy, 6,780 maximum, and a crew of approximately 2,394.
