St.Kitts Sprint Queen Named To Third Straight MEAC Track Athlete Of The Week Honor

NORFOLK, Va. (May 4, 2016)-Morgan State St.Kitts Sprint Queen Shenel Crooke was selected as Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track Performer of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday. It was the third consecutive week that Crooke has earned the weekly honor.

Crooke’s selection also marks the sixth MEAC Performer of the Week honor this season for the junior, who earned the first two awards during the indoor season and was also named league performer of the week for the outdoor season the previous two weeks (April 6 and April 20).

A native of Basseterre, St. Kitts, Crooke competed in two events last weekend during the 122nd running of the Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa. She finished sixth in the 100 meter dash championship division in a time of 11.90. Crooke later ran a leg of the 4X100 meter relay team that placed third in the ECAC Final with a time of 46.50.

Crooke and the Lady Bears return to the track this weekend when they travel to Greensboro, N.C. for the MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships (Thursday, May 5-Saturday, May 7). The championships will be held at Irwin Belk Track inside of Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.
